Retreats: Returning to what matters

There is a moment that comes when we step away from the noise of daily life. The emails slow down. The phone grows quiet. The endless lists, routines, and responsibilities begin to fade. And in their place, a different rhythm begins — one that moves with the breath, with the heart, with the gentle flow of nature. This is the gift of retreat. To retreat is not to escape. It is to return — to ourselves, to what is essential, to the quiet voice inside that so often gets lost in the busyness of our days. When we gather in retreat, time takes on a new quality. Days are measured not by deadlines but by moments of connection: the stillness of meditation, the flow of practice, a shared meal, a heartfelt conversation. In this space, we discover something profound — that healing, balance, and inspiration are already within us, waiting to be uncovered. This year, there are two special opportunities to step into such a space. In Northern Germany (close to Bremen), we will gather for a three-day retreat end of November, which is designed to help you reconnect with your inner power and elevate your health. Zhineng Qigong Master Yuantong Liu will guide participants through the foundational practices once taught in China’s renowned medicine-less hospital, with translation into German by Britta. This retreat offers a space to rejuvenate, refresh, re-energize, and reset on mental, emotional, and physical levels. Through meditations, gentle movements, and the awakening of inner resources, you will discover tools that nurture your well-being and enrich daily life. It is an opportunity to experience the essence of retreat in a deeply immersive way—reconnecting with yourself, embracing holistic health, and enjoying the joy of community. The methods and approaches shared are simple yet profound, making them easy to integrate into your everyday activities long after the retreat has ended. In November, a one-week retreat will take place in Dornach (Basel), Switzerland, dedicated to people diagnosed with a benign or malignant tumor or cyst. Guided by Zhineng Qigong Master Yuantong Liu and his team, the retreat offers intensive practice and personalized Qi Therapy treatments. Participants’ progress will be observed through ultrasound assessments, providing valuable insight into their self-healing journey. This unique retreat invites individuals to take an active role in their own health and well-being, within a nurturing environment where body, mind, and spirit can rest, recharge, and renew. Through the harmonious combination of Qigong meditations, gentle movements, inspiring teachings, and transformative mindset shifts, participants are supported in awakening their innate self-healing potential from deep within. Both retreats carry the same essence: an invitation to pause, to breathe, to listen, and to remember. The settings may be different — the German countryside -our seminar room will have large windows overlooking a beautiful park and lake – with its gentle calm, the Swiss hills with their crisp November air — but the heart of the journey is the same. In each place, we step out of ordinary time and into something timeless. And when we leave, we do not return empty-handed. We carry with us the seeds of retreat — the stillness, the practices, the sense of belonging. These seeds grow quietly within us, shaping the way we move through our days, offering strength, clarity, and gentleness long after the retreat has ended. Perhaps this is why retreats matter so much today. They remind us of who we are when the noise fades. They give us the space to reconnect, to be nourished, and to return to our lives with fresh eyes and an open heart.
